Saudi National Guard to Take Part in Coalition Operation in Yemen
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Iran is not a party to the internal Yemeni conflict, Husseim Sheikholeslam, a foreign policy adviser to Iran’s speaker of parliament, told Sputnik Persian on Tuesday.

The Houthi militants, after taking over parts of Yemen, have been targeted with airstrikes by a Saudi-led coalition since March.

“Iran under no circumstances meddles in the Yemeni internal affairs. We do not send weaponry and soldiers [to Yemen.] All these statements on Iranian weaponry deliveries to the Houthis are US, Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia conspiracy plot, aimed at suppressing Yemeni people’s attempts to fight for their freedom and sovereignty,” Sheikholeslam said.

Earlier in April, Washington accused Iran of delivering arms to the Houthi rebels. Tehran has repeatedly denied the accusations.

Last week, the UN Security Council passed a resolution imposing an arms embargo on the Houthis and other forces fighting against supporters of President-in-exile Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
