MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani agreed to share information on the situation in the regions of Afghanistan bordering Iran and conduct joint operations to counter the Islamic State extremist group.
"Today, we are facing the serious threat of terrorism, and acts of barbarism. We are witnessing civilian casualties on the daily basis. There is a need for cooperation in order to address problems such as ISIL," Ghani was quoted as saying by the ministry.
The two leaders also stressed the importance of security and intelligence cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.
