Sinai-based militants, affiliated with the Islamic State, released a video showing execution of an Egyptian soldier and an unidentified captive.
The soldier was kidnapped during a major assault on several security checkpoints in early April. He was shot dead, according to the footage. Egyptian security forces recovered his body the day after the attack.
The militants, from a group called Sinai Province, beheaded the other captive.
