Islamic State militants imposed a set of new laws in the city of Raqqa in northeast Syria. The new sanctions are applied to smokers and people who listen to music or even have music in their cellphones.
The militants have also imposed a ban on wearing tight jeans for men. The new penalty for violating such rules is imprisonment for a period of ten days with an intensive course on Islam. All detainees will be subjected to a test, those who pass will be released, but those who don’t will pay a fine and join another course, and stay imprisoned until they pass.
The group continues to impose various sanctions on civilians and punish them if these absurd laws are violated, forcing many to leave the city.
