The review was introduced in early February 2015 and concluded that the situation in Yemen had deteriorated to the degree that the Bank was unable to effectively manage its projects. The Sana’a office of the World Bank was temporarily closed on February 18, 2015, as a precautionary measure in response to the rapidly changing security environment.

The Bank staff was unable to communicate and coordinate with government colleagues, and many project locations became inaccessible preventing management control.

The Bank said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and will lift the suspension as soon as conditions are restored.
