MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Islamic State jihadist group has started reopening schools and has issued a new curriculum in the Syrian city of Raqqa, one of the key strongholds isolated by the militants, the website of anti-ISIL organization "Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently" (RBSS) reported Monday.
The new educational plan is "the neglect of all scientific and literary aspects," RBSS activists have asserted.
If the teachers refuse to accept the new ISIL curriculum and confess their "infidelity," they may be punished or even killed. Islamic State has reportedly seized the property of many teachers who thought children in Raqqa but who now live outside ISIL-controlled areas.
"Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently" is an anti-Islamist group founded in April, 2014 to cover unfolding events and to expose crimes committed by Islamic State in the city. The group publishes firsthand videos and photos through Facebook and other social media. RSS members also mark the city walls with the anti-ISIL graffiti and distribute leaflets.
