ISIL Achieves Military Success, Takes Over Iraq City
MOSCOW, (Sputnik) — The government forces liberated two oilfields in central Libya, which had been seized by militants linked to Islamic State (IS), Turkey's Anadolu news agency reported Sunday.

Libya has recently seen intensified attacks on its oil facilities by armed groups. Crude accounts for most of the country's revenues.

"[Army] oil guard forces in the central region on Saturday retook control of al-Mabrouk and al-Bahi oilfields which were taken over by ISIL [IS] a few days ago," the agency said citing the spokesman for Libya's Oil Guard Force Ali al-Hassi.

The operation to liberate the oilfields began on Friday, with the assistance of the Libyan Air Force the spokesman said.

Earlier on Sunday, Libya's National Oil Corporation warned that it would stop oil production at all oilfields if the government fails to handle the rising number of militants' attacks. The announcement came in the wake of Saturday explosion at Libya's largest oilfield of Sarir that decreased the country's oil flow to a year-low.
