Islamic State Rebels Seize State Radio Station in Libya
Militants claiming to be members of the Islamic State have taken control of a state-run radio station in Libya's coastal city of Sirte.
Islamic State militants took control of radio Sirte and are broadcasting verses from the Koran and speeches by their chief Abu Bakral-Baghdadi.
The Islamic State websites also posted pictures showing armed men sitting in front of microphones in a broadcasting studio with Kalashnikov assault rifles.
The resident said speeches of ISIL spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani were also being played on the air.
A citizen of the town said the gunmen apparently seized the radio “as a first step to communicate with the population.”
