Clashes began Sunday evening near an army-owned stadium in Cairo's Tagammu Al-Khamis district. All the victims were supporters of the Egyptian Zamalek football club, according to the source.

At least 20 have been injured, local media said.

According to local media, the victims died of stampede and suffocation, following tear gas attacks.

In 2012, at least 72 people died and another 254 were injured in Egypt's worst-ever football fan clash and stampede.
