MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The embassy of a unnamed Gulf country in Beirut has been advised to increase its security in light of a possible double suicide bombing by the Islamic State (IS) extremist group, The Daily Star reported Friday.

Security agencies received information about IS plans to carry out a double suicide attack in Beirut on the embassy of a Gulf country, the newspaper reported, citing Lebanese media. The embassy was not specified.

Three suicide bombers are expected to carry out the attack.

The IS jihadist group is currently operating in Syria and Iraq, seeking to capture more territories in the countries, including areas on the Syrian-Lebanese border. The militants were engaged in fights with the Lebanese Army in August 2014, taking some soldiers hostage.
