Israel Reportedly Arrests 11 Palestinian Teens in West Bank, East Jerusalem

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 11 Palestinian teenagers were detained by Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, the Ma'an news agency reported Wednesday, citing the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS).

According to the PPS, Israeli forces broke into West Bank's city of Hebron and detained seven youngsters. Four other children were arrested in East Jerusalem.

The exact reason for the detentions is still unknown, though the news agency suggests it may be for security questioning.

Israeli forces also raided Aqabet Jaber camp and the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in Jericho, West Bank, the Palestine News Network reported Wednesday.

The West Bank area, along with East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, is disputed between Palestinians and Israelis.

Palestinians seek to create an independent state on the territories, including East Jerusalem.

According to Israeli human rights group B'Tselem, Israel has detained over 5,500 Palestinians as of November 2014, of which 150 were minors.
