MOSCOW, December 25 (Sputnik) — A delegation from Israel has arrived in Cairo to search for the remains of 22 Israeli soldiers who went missing during wars with Egypt, local media reported.
The five-person delegation will reportedly look for the bodies of 16 soldiers who disappeared during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, four who went missing during the 1967 Six-Day War and two who fought in the 1967-1970 War of Attrition.
Israel and Egypt signed a peace treaty in 1979, putting an end to years of warfare.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the visit of Israeli officials is the first of its kind since the 2011 overthrow of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, with the last such visit taking place in February 2010.
