Israeli airstrikes damaged buildings at the airport and in Damascus suburbs, but there were no casualities so far reported.

DAMASCUS, December 7 (Sputnik) — No causalities have been reported following Israeli Air Force airstrikes on Syria's Damascus International Airport, a source in Syrian army's Joint Staff told Sputnik on Sunday.

Another source in the Syrian army told Sputnik that the airstrikes have damaged the buildings at the airport and in Damascus suburbs.

“Today after midday Israeli planes have conducted two airstrikes, one close to Damascus international airport, another one in Dimus region. According to preliminary information, buildings have been damaged. There is no other information,” the source said.

Earlier in the day, Syrian military sources told Sputnik that the airstrikes also targeted an arms depot, where explosions were heard.

Syrian Joint Staff condemned the attacks in a press release, adding that these airstrikes show that Israel directly supports terrorism. Damascus added that the airstrikes were conducted right after Syrian army had made some progress and partially regained control from militants in Deir Al-Zor.
