Abortion in Argentina is currently permitted only in cases of rape or when a mother's health is at risk. Previous legislation on the issue was backed by the lower chamber of the parliament in 2018, but the Senate rejected it.

Sputnik is live from Buenos Aires, where mass rallies by pro-life and pro-choice activists are gathering, while the Argentinian parliament debates and votes on a bill proposed by President Alberto Fernandez. The legislation stipulates allowing the termination of pregnancies at up to 14 weeks, and will provide access to abortions in the healthcare system.
