The number of cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Brazil has increased by 13,140 over the past 24 hours to surpass 250,000, and the number of people who have recovered has topped 100,000, the country's Health Ministry said.

Live from Rio de Janeiro as workers employed by the city disinfect the streets in an attempt to halt the spread of COVID-19. According to data from Johns Hopkins University, as of Tuesday there are more than 244,000 COVID-19 cases in Brazil, with over 16,000 people dying with the virus.
