Former attorney general Luisa Ortega Diaz arrived in Bogota on Friday after fleeing Venezuela together with her husband German Ferrer, the Colombian migration agency has announced.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Colombian authority said the couple arrived at Bogota airport aboard a private jet and completed "corresponding migration procedures."

"This afternoon, Venezuelan attorney general Luisa Ortega Diaz entered the country from Aruba," Migration Colombia said in a statement, referring to a small Dutch island off Venezuela’s northern coast.

Ortega was fired earlier this month by the Venezuelan government after criticizing the election to a controversial constituent assembly. The new top prosecutor opened an investigation into her husband, an opposition lawmaker, over his alleged involvement into an extortion ring.
