The Colombian authorities have specified that were 77 people on board the crashed aircraft, not 81 as the authorities initially stated, local media reported Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, there were initial reports that a total of 75 people were killed in the crash of the airplane that was carrying 81 people including the Brazilian Chapecoense Real football team in northwestern Colombia.

"The search and rescue operation… is finished… The balance is as follows: six people are injured, and 71 people killed, so, there is a total of 77 people," Director of The National Unit for the Management of Disaster Risk (UNGRD) Carlos Ivan Marquez, was quoted by the Ondo Cero radio station.

He added that all the major forces were mobilized to take part in the search and rescue operation, including police, the Air force, as well as relief agencies and local institutions.
