MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro could meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future, Maduro announced.

"I will meet with Vladimir Putin to reach agreements in all fields, military, financial, agricultural, commercial and make new announcements around market recovery and stabilization of oil prices," Maduro said on Wednesday, as quoted by Venezuela’s Correo del Orinoco newspaper.

Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Vladimir Zaemsky told Sputnik earlier this week that Russia is prepared to join efforts aimed at resolving Venezuela's internal issues.

Venezuela has been embroiled in a political crisis with opposition staging regular protests and launching a campaign to remove President Nicolas Maduro, blaming him for the economic crisis in Venezuela, a country suffering from shrinking GDP, shortages of goods and rising inflation.
