Mexican President Replaces Head of Police Amid Scandal Involving Officers

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto replaced Enrique Galindo, the head of country's Federal Police, amid the ongoing political scandal, which involves police officers, the Mexican interior minister said.

MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — In May 2015, several Mexican police officers had allegedly killed 22 people any without legitimate criminal investigations and court decisions in country's central state of Michoacan. The officers reported that the killed people had been killed in a shooting with law enforcement officials.

"Because if the recent developments, Enrique Galindo was removed from his office by order of the president," Miguel Angel Osorio Chong said said at a press conference on Monday.

He added that Galindo was replaced by Manelich Castilla Craviotto in order to carry out an objective investigation and to find out all the details of the case.
