The Brazilian Doping Control Laboratory in Rio de Janeiro will resume its work after the July inspection of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the laboratory said in a statement.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Friday, WADA said it was suspending the accreditation of the Rio laboratory for at least six months over non-conformity with the International Standard for Laboratories (ISL). The suspension took effect on June 22.

The Rio laboratory said in a statement that it was ready to confirm its high technical potential and professionalism during the upcoming visit of WADA specialists in July and expected to resume work after the inspection.

Rio de Janeiro is due to host the Summer Olympic Games on August 5-21, 2016. Reports have emerged that if the Rio laboratory does not resume its work before then, all urine and blood samples will have to be sent to Sweden during the Olympics.
