Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called himself crazy in love with Venezuela after a former Uruguayan leader called him "mad as a hatter."

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, former Uruguayan President Jose Mujica called Maduro "mad as a hatter" over his conflict with Luis Amargo, the head of the Organization of American States.

"Yes, I am mad as a hatter, crazy in love with Venezuela, with the Bolivarian revolution, with [Hugo] Chavez and his example," Maduro said later Thursday as quoted by the Noticias al Dia portal.

Earlier this week, Amargo called Maduro a traitor of his people. The statement came after Maduro also called Amargo a traitor and an agent of the US Central Intelligence Agency.
