According to local media, a fuel tank blast injured over 30 people in Southern Mexico.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 30 people have been wounded after a fuel tank exploded in the southern Mexico's state of Tabasco, local media reported on Wednesday.

A Pemex [Mexican oil company] fuel tank explodes in Tabasco: over 30 injured, the Tweet reads.

According to Milenio newspaper, those injured were trying to steal the fuel.

Tabasco's Secretariat of Health said on Twitter that the incident happened at 9:29 p.m. local time on Tuesday (03:29 GMT Wednesday), adding that some of the wounded suffered severe burns.

Earlier reports indicated that an explosion occurred at a Pemex pipeline, but the company dismissed the information, adding that the fire started at a tank with stolen fuel located nearby the pipeline and did not affect the company's property and employees.
