MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – The investigation concerns "the possible existence of a computer being used for this purpose [espionage]," Mendizabal said on Wednesday as quoted by La Hora newspaper.
The minister did not provide any further details.
According to La Hora, Guatemala’s Public Ministry (MP) raided the headquarters of DIGICI last week, following reports of suspicious activity at the institution.
DIGICI, Guatemala’s new civilian intelligence agency, was established in 2007 within the Interior Ministry. Its primary purpose is to gather information on organized crime.
