Parliamentary Elections in Venezuela: Facts and Details
MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — Venezuelan opposition party Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) expects to receive a majority of seats in the parliament, while the official elections results are due to be revealed later in the day, MUD member Ramon Aveledo said.

“We will have the majority, it is for certain,” Aveledo told RIA Novosti.

Earlier in the day, one of the opposition leaders, Enrique Capriles, said that the election results met the expectations of the opposition.

The parliamentary elections were held in the Latin-American country on Sunday. The Venezuelan law bans local media from publishing exit polls.

If the opposition wins, the Venezuelan political left, the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), could lose its majority for the first time since 1999.
