MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The number of those killed in the Sunday bus crash in southern Brazil has soared to 43 people, police in Santa Catarina province said.
A local military police chief was quoted as saying by Globo that bodies of 41 victims had been taken to the morgues, while two more people had died in hospital.
There were reportedly 50 tourists on the bus when it veered off the road near the town of Campo Alegre and plunged into a ravine. According to preliminary data, the driver lost control of the vehicle during a turn.
The Russian embassy in Brazil told RIA Novosti they had no information on the victims’ nationalities.
