Joao Vaccari Neto, who serves as the treasurer of Brazil’s ruling Workers' Party, was brought in for questioning in relation to the corruption scandal surrounding the country’s state-run oil giant Petrobras, AFP reports. The treasurer was not arrested.
Politicians, including members of Brazil's ruling coalition, have been implicated in the scandal. Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff served as chairwoman of the company’s board of directors from 2003 until 2010.
On Wednesday, Petrobras CEO Maria das Gracas Foster and the company’s board of directors resigned following allegations of price-fixing and bribery.
