The Minister for Youth and Sports of Tatarstan, Vladimir Leonov, proposed the creation of a sports museum near the Kazan Arena stadium ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

According to Leonov, it will gives visitors to the World Football Championship in the republic the opportunity to learn about the achievements of Tatarstan's athletes.

Russia will host its first FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15, 2018. The matches will be held in the cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and Sochi.
