An integral part of the Russian Navy, the Black Sea Fleet helps maintain security along the country's southern border.
The Black Sea Fleet, which came into the organizational structure of the Russia's Southern Military District in 2010, has diesel-powered submarines, surface ships, sea-based missile-carrying aviation as well as anti-submarine warfare aviation, fighters and coastal troops at its disposal.
