The armed struggle in Yemen between the government forces and the Shi’ah rebels has been ongoing since 2004. The fighting has resulted in numerous casualties and the deterioration of the region’s economy. The Yemeni Zaidi Shias accuse the country’s government of discrimination towards the Shia minority. They demand an official recognition of their rights and seek to restore the Shiah Imamah that was abolished during the revolution of September 1962.
