India has registered 379,257 new COVID-19 cases within the past 24 hours, marking the largest single-day increase since the beginning of the pandemic.

Live from the crematorium in the Seemapuri area of northeast Delhi, as hundreds of bodies are cremated following the record surge in COVID-19 cases in India.

India ranks second in terms of the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases following the United States and has registered more than 300,000 new ones per day over the past week.

India has reported its highest numbers of new daily cases and deaths since the pandemic began and is facing severe shortages of oxygen.
