Stuttgart is home to the Querdenken movement that emerged last year to oppose restrictive coronavirus-related measures, which the activists view as a violation of their constitutional rights. They have carried out a number of protests, including in the capital Berlin.

Sputnik is live from Stuttgart, Germany where activists from the Querdenken anti-lockdown movement are demonstrating against the tightened coronavirus-related measures amid fears of a third wave.

The current lockdown measures in the city include the closure of certain non-essential businesses, limits for public gatherings, and requirements to wear a mask.

Although a phased reopening is in works, the city's authorities will keep lockdown measures in place until at least 18 April.
