The UK's Prime Minister Boris Johnson signed the post-Brexit future partnership agreement on Wednesday afternoon after it was supported 521-73 by the country's House of Commons.

Sputnik goes live from the Port of Dover on 31 December as the transition period for the UK's exit from the EU comes to an end.

The UK officially left the EU on 31 January 2020, but for the duration of the 11-month-long transition period, the country continued following EU regulations and contributing to the EU budget.

Last week, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed on a partnership deal between the bloc and the UK that will come into force on 1 January.
