Earlier in the day, Josep Borrell briefed EU foreign ministers on intelligence-based threat analysis, according to Reuters. On Friday, EU defence ministers are holding a virtual meeting to discuss the highlights of a final document which is due to be delivered in 2022.

Sputnik comes live from Brussels where EU High Representative of Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell is holding a press conference after a video conference with Foreign Affairs Ministers of the bloc's member states.

During the conference, the ministers were briefed on the latest international developments such as the outcome of the US elections and the situation in Afghanistan, Belarus, Nagorno-Karabakh, the eastern Mediterranean and Ethiopia.
