The international forum, which is the key policy-setting authority of the World Health Organisation, was held via videoconference this year for the first-time ever, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Sputnik is live from Geneva, Switzerland, where the 73rd session of the World Health Assembly, held in a virtual format, has entered its final day.

The main functions of the forum are determining the organisation’s policies, appointing the director-general, as well as reviewing and approving the proposed budget, among other issues.
