Earlier this week, France started to loosen coronavirus restrictions after weeks of declining hospitalisation rates, with French Prime Minister Edouard Phillipe saying that the easing will be gradual in order to prevent a resurgence of the virus.

Hardly had lockdown measures been eased in France, when Yellow Vests protesters returned to their favourite pastime - protesting.

This time they have united with black bloc protesters to organise a so-called "Black Spring" rally.

The last Yellow Vests protest was held on 15 March, with several people reportedly arrested over the event.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the French authorities decided that gatherings should be limited to 10 people, with the fine for breaking this rule raised from €38 ($41) to €135 ($145).
