The WikiLeaks founder is allegedly being held at HM Prison Belmarsh after having been removed from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and arrested earlier on Thursday. The same day, Assange was found guilty of breaching his bail at Westminster Magistrates Court and is now facing up to 12 months in jail.

Assange had been taking refuge at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012 following rape charges brought against him in Sweden, which he repeatedly denied. Despite the fact that Stockholm cancelled the probe in 2017, Assange was still threatened with possible extradition to the US, where he faces computer hacking charges and could receive five years' imprisonment.
