The injured person has reportedly been rushed to a hospital. According to unconfirmed reports, the victim had picked up the grenade, while Sputnik's correspondent reports that everyone on the scene says that he didn't. The site of the incident is engulfed in chaotic movement and it's not clear how it happened.

The GLI-F4 tear gas grenade contains an explosive charge consisting of 25g of TNT. It has been used by French law enforcement since 2011.

Brief clashes erupted on the Champs-Elysees between protesters and law enforcement with the latter reportedly using batons and pepper spray. Members of the police then surrounded the procession of protesters in Paris, advancing in front of them as well as on the sides, according to reports.

Earlier in January, eight people, including one police officer, reportedly suffered injuries during the 11th round of anti-government yellow vests rallies attended by as many as 4,000 people.
