The deal was supposed to have been voted on by the parliament in December, 2018, but the crucial procedure was postponed by Prime Minister Theresa May amid high risks that the long-sought agreement would not stand as it is highly unpopular with many UK politicians.

The UK's House of Commons is continuing to discuss the Brexit withdrawal agreement on the eve of a major vote that is set to be held on 15 January.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Theresa May said that a possible rejection of the withdrawal agreement by the House of Commons potentially could result either in a no deal exit or no Brexit at all.
