French authorities are dismantling Zone to Defend squats in Notre-Dame-des-Landes on April 10. The activists have been protesting against plans to build an airport since 2008.

The intention of establishing the airport has been canceled, but the activists have not left the site despite receiving eviction warnings and evacuation orders. The clashes began earlier on Tuesday.

According to Sputnik France, police officers used tear gas against the activists who had thrown Molotov cocktails at a bulldozer deployed to remove the illegal buildings.
