The key suspect in the stabbing attack in the Finnish city of Turku was seeking asylum in Finland, local media reported Saturday, citing police.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, two people were killed and eight others were injured in a knife attack at Turku's market square. The key suspect, who was shot by the police during detention, is an 18-year-old citizen of Morocco.

The suspect arrived in Turku last year and was trying to get asylum in Finland, the Yle radio reported.

Earlier in the day, Finland's National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said the police had arrested four other people over possible links to the accident.
