Political forces should come together to create a strengthened and united front in the fight against terrorism, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said Friday in the wake of two van ramming attacks that hit the country's autonomous region of Catalonia.

MADRID (Sputnik) – On Thursday, Barcelona and Cambrils were struck with the two separate attacks, which together claimed 14 lives and left over 130 people injured. The Daesh (banned in Russia) terror group has claimed responsibility for Barcelona attack.

"Political forces should unify, this will make us stronger in the face of terror… We will win this battle, which targets all our values," Rajoy said, as broadcast by the 24 Horas television channel.

Rajoy went on to stress the importance of "exchanging everything, which is worth exchanging."

The prime minister continued by saying that all victims of the attacks, as well as to the families those killed and injured, should be provided with assistance.

"These terror attacks target not only us, but all the countries, which protect freedom and democratic values," Rajoy added as he recalled that many of the victims were foreigners.

A meeting devoted to the terror threat will be held in Madrid on Saturday, according to the Spanish leader. The Spanish National Court will investigate the terror attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.
