MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, a truck rammed into the crowd at a Berlin Christmas market in the center of the city, killing 12 people and injuring 49 more. The country's interior ministry has labeled the incident a terrorist attack. The suspected perpetrator, a 24-year-old Tunisian Anis Amri, was officially put on the wanted list in Germany and Europe. Germany promised 100,000 euros ($104,000) award for any information about the suspect’s location.
"We will do everything to find out the reasons behind this cruel attack. The concrete political conclusions will be made after the termination of the investigation," Maas told reporters.
He stressed that the legal findings and the conclusions on security policy would be discussed with the German interior minister.
"In January we are going to discuss this issue and draw conclusions. The primary issue to discuss is how to speed up the process of deportation of those, who are subject to deportation, and how to improve control over dangerous persons," Maas said.
Earlier on Friday, Italian Interior Minister Marco Minniti said that Amri was killed in Milan. The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. (02:00 GMT) when Amri opened fire following a police request to show his documents.
