Italian President Asks Prime Minister Renzi to Delay Resignation

Italian President Sergio Mattarella asked Prime Minister MAtteo Renzi to postpone his resignation until after the adoption of a law defining the 2017 state budget, the presidential office said.

ROME (Sputnik) — The Italian Senate is expected to pass the budget legislation as early as on December 9.

Renzi, 41, announced his resignation earlier on Monday after the constitutional reforms proposed by the politician were rejected by the Italian nation at a popular referendum.
