MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Barcelona said it paid 17.1 million euros (some $18 million) to Santos FC and 40 million euros (approximately $42 million) to Neymar's family company to make him the member of the Spanish team in 2013.
However, according to Brazilian investment company DIS, that in 2009 bought 40-percent stake in Neymar's sporting rights, part of the transaction amount was allegedly concealed meaning it received less amount of money than it was entitled to get.
According to El Pais, in addition to Neymar's two-year imprisonment, the Spanish prosecutors demanded that former Barcelona FC President Sandro Rosell serve five-year sentence term and FC Barcelona pay a fine of 8.4 million euros (approximately $8.8 million) as well as brought accusations against Neymar’s father and Santos.
Neymar came third in the 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or award to the world's best football players.
