    A court in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau on Saturday ordered to confine Vyacheslav Filip, the country's consul general in Istanbul for a 30-day period, the spokeswoman of Moldova's General Prosecutor's Office's said Saturday.

    CHISINAU (Sputnik) On Thursday, Filip was detained in the airport of Chisinau on suspicion of corruption activities.

    "The court has granted a motion of the prosecutors and placed Moldova's consul general in Istanbul under a 30-days arrest," Maria Vieru told RIA Novosti.

    Soon after the detention, high-ranking Moldovan officials, including Mihai Balan, head of country Information and Security Service, said that all the staff of the country's consulate general had participated in the illegal activities issuing documents allowing foreigners to enter Moldova in return for bribes.
