MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Kosovo police prevented a terrorist attack by the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) terrorist group on the Israeli national football team that played a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Albania on November 12, according to a statement issued on Thursday.
Besides the foiled attack in Elbasan near Albania's capital Tirana, police, acting in coordination with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), managed to prevent simultaneous assault on a target in Kosovo.
It is also noted that the suspects were divided in separate groups and received orders from the Daesh.
Recent years have seen the rise of the Daesh terrorist group, outlawed in many countries including Russia. The jihadist organization is operating mainly in Syria and Iraq and known for staging terror attacks in other parts of the world.
