The Lithuanian parliament unanimously adopted on Tuesday a resolution on foreign policy and security, which implies increasing defense spending to 2 percent of GDP by 2018, the parliament’s press service said in a statement.

VILNIUS (Sputnik) – The resolution also said that Lithuania was going to support political aims of the Eastern Partnership as well as improve relations with the United States, Germany, France, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and northern European states.

“The earlier signed Agreement on Foreign, Security and Defense Policy Strategic Guidelines for 2014-2020 will be implemented,” the resolution said referring to the document under which Lithuania pledged to fulfill its NATO obligations on increasing military spending up to 2 percent of its GDP.
