Employees of the Daily Mail and Metro newspapers were evacuated Monday from the Northcliffe House in west London because of a suspicious package with white powder, the newspapers’ staff reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – What exact substance was found in the package remains unknown.

“Evacuation:@DailyMailUK staff told to leave editorial floor as police test mysterious 'white powder' sent in post,” Baz Bamigboye, the Daily Mail entertainment columnist, wrote on his Twitter page.

Local police said that the alarm was false.

“Officers have established that the item found in Derry Street, W8 is non-suspicious. No arrests made,” Kensington and Chelsea police said via Twitter.
