"In accordance with the decision of the director of the Attica police department, during the two days of the official visit of the outgoing US President Barack Obama (November 15-16), any public meetings in the open air and processions in several areas are banned over public order and security reasons," the statement read.

The ban will become effective at 6 a.m. local time on Tuesday (04:00 GMT), and all restrictions will be removed at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (14:00 GMT), according to the police.

According to media reports, several Greek anarchist groups plan to organize mass protests to coincide with Obama's visit.
