Igor Dodon Wins Moldova Presidential Election With 55% as 95% of Votes Counted

With over 95 percent of ballots counted, Socialist Party's Igor Dodon is winning Moldovan presidential election, the country's Central Election Commission (CEC) said in a statement on Monday.

CHISINAU (Sputnik) — Dodon is winning the second round of Moldova's presidential election with 55.48 percent, CEC stated.

"Igor Dodon wins 55.48 percent or 798 722 votes; [opposition candidate from Action and Solidarity Party] Maia Sandu wins 44.52 percent or 640 897 votes," the statement said.

The vote still continues at some polling stations abroad.
